If you would like to read a report on the activities of some of your Kansas units during the Civil War, go to the Arkansas Message Board and scroll down almost to the bottom of the messages posted to one entitled "Rest of the OR reports on Newtons 10thj ARK. Cavalry" posted by Kenneth Byrd. It is interesting.

Along the same line.... I lived in Emporia for 36 years and travelled the entire state of Kansas in my work. I often stopped to read the roadside markers telling of incidents during the border fights between Kansas and Missouri, but I've been away now for 17years and my memory needs refreshing. A lady has written asking about the term Jayhawker. I can answer her, but probably not as fully as I should. Anyone with some input for me?
