Bill.... I also have Blunt's pension records, including his physician's statement concerning his death from heat stroke (not insanity). Another possible source that I have not tapped yet is Blunt's brothers (half-brothers), one of which relocated to Chicago, had been a red-leg, and died there; the youngest, John E. Blunt, also a red-leg, enlisted soldier, then Captain in the 14th or 15th Kansas Cavalry, later a scout. I do have some information on him as well, but short. The other side of the Blunt family, the Gillpatrick's, left a legacy during the Civil War.

This is an interesting family, and I agree that Matt Mathews and Kip Lindborg is the most well-versed on him.
