Re: Marshal Cleveland
Marshal Cleveland has a tombstone in Osawatomie, Kansas, where he was killed in May, 1862. I have seen the tombstone and it has engraved on it, along with his name and date of death, "One hero less on earth, one hero more in heaven." The tombstone does not have any other carving on it. It is interesting that, despite the fact he was killed by Union cavalry his tombstone is accompanied by a marker that says, "Defender of the Union."
