Thank you for the note. The full strengths of Companies B, D, E and H of the 6th Kansas were involved in the fight at Massard Prairie.

A few men from Company A were either visiting the camp of Mefford's battalion at the time of the attack or were assigned to one of the picket posts overrun by the Confederates during their approach to the battlefield. The main strength of the company, however, was camped at a second location and only became involved when the Federals rushed reinforcements to the scene.
