Zebulon M Pike crossed future Kansas state line just north of Mine Creek in 1806 determining lands included in $15M 1803 Louisiana Purchase, discovering Pike's Peak that November.

Some fifty-eight years later brothers, corporal Daniel R B FLORA, Company C, 7th KS Cav, USA, John A (my g,grandfather), and "V P" (Wolney Pulaski) with 300 others from Lyon county, Kansas, served in Kansas State Militia October 1864 in Mine Creek area, as did Gen Price, a past governor and five future state governors plus future mayor of Dallas, Texas, where one of, if not the greatest, Union Cavalry battle occurred.
