This must be a nickname, since nothing like "War Eagle" appears on the rolls of this regiment.

The regiment operated in the Corinth area for over two yours. Two long years, I might add, for anyone living within a fifty mile radius of the town. The number of families either robbed or left homeless by these fellows in Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee must number in the hundreds, if not thousands.
