Seth Hays, a great-grandson of Daniel Boone and cousin of Col. Upton Hays, was a well known trader at Council Grove. He never married and had no known children except for an adopted daughter, Kittie Robbins. There is no record of his having taken part in the Civil War. I found that 2 men by the name of Seth Hays who enlisted in the Union forces in Leavenworth, KS in 1862. One died of disease in Little Rock, Ar in 1864 and and Seth's sister Eliza Hays Word lived in Little Rock. The other was discharged because he was sick in 1864. Does anyone have any information on these men?
