A. M. Sevier & the Border Ruffians

After the Civil War, Archibald M. Sevier was a newspaper publisher at Neosho Missouri and a state railroad commissioner for six years. When he ran for RR commissioner in 1878, one newspaper account said he "was with John Brown in Kansas, running off Missouri negroes, and fighting the border ruffians." During the war, Sevier served with the 8th MO Cavalry (Union) as an assistant quatermaster.

I found an online source which says that Mark Delahany and A. M. Sevier founded the TERRITORIAL REGISTER at Leavenworth KS on 7 July 1855. That fall the REGISTER became the first KS newspaper destroyed by the border ruffians.

Does anyone have additional information on Sevier's activities in KS in the late 1850s?
