My g'g'grandfater was John M. Matheny, who appears (from my limited research) listed as the Lt Col commanding the 82nd. This is just based on various Orders of Battle I've seen, I don't have much detail on him other than a couple of large photographs. No diaries that I know of. Yet folks here with some diaries indicate other folks as commanding. Anyone have any bits on LT COL Matheny, by chance?
