Jim, today I found in the Report of the Adjutant General, vol 1 page 359 this report. "On the 10th of January, 1863 a detachment of cavalry sent to arrest some deserters near Waverly in Johnson (Morgan) county, was fired upon by a company of disloyal citizens and Sons of Liberty." This can be found in the section under Internal troubles with in the state.
