71st Indiana Infaantry at Richmond, KY

Can anyone tell me how many men that Lt.Col.Melville D. Topping's 71st Indiana started the August 30,1862 Battle of Richmond with? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am almost 90% finished writing a book on the Battle of Richmond, and I am desperately trying to find a concrete number regarding the initial strength of the 71st in this, their first engagement. In terms of casualties, Topping's unit lost far more than any other unit, with 45 KIA, 196 WIA, and 593 Captured or Missing, for a total of 834 casualties. Assuming that the 71st began the day with 900 men, which hardly any regiment had, they suffered 93% casualties, an astronomical percentage. Can anyone help me? I am also looking for similar info on the 12th, 16th, and 66th Indiana as well, so I can cross check the statistics that I already have. Aside from posting a reply, I can be reached at infidelgrunt@yahoo.com. Thank you very much.
