Dec. 22, 1862-Jan. 1, 1863 commanded 1st Brigade, 7th Division, Left Wing, XVI Corps, Department of the Tennessee; April 12-May 2, 1863 commanded 1st Brigade, 7th Division, XVII Corps, Department of the Tennessee; Sept. 14-Dec. 20, 1863 commanded 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, XVII Corps, Department of the Tennessee; Dec. 20, 1863-Feb. 4, 1864 commanded 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, XV Corps, Department of the Tennessee; April 2-Sept. 1, 1864 commanded 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, XV Corps, Department of the Tennessee; Aug. 12, 1864 resigned; Sept. 13, 1866 died in a cholera epidemic in Ripley County, Ind.
