My gg uncle, Lewis Hamm, servee in this unit from 1864 to the end of the war. He actually left his confederate unit and joined the 18th when it occupied the Indianola Texas area. I can't find too much on the 18th other than what is on the Soldiers and Sailors site. Any one know of any books that may have more info? After the war, Lewis settled down in Carrol County Indiana and died in 1920. I submitted a photo of him last year to the Carrol County museum when I visited the area.
