Samuel Doggett

Samuel Doggett, born Sept 1843 OH, died 15 May 1909 and is buried in Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Payne County OK in an unmarked grave. He was married to Isabelle. His children included Heber L. (1868 IN), Anna (c1876 MO) and Daisy (1882 MO).

Censuses:
1900 (Wyandotte Co. KS); 1880 (Saline Co. MO); 1870 (Maries Co. MO); 1860 (Champaign Co. OH)

a special census in Payne County OK for 1904 lists him as a Union veteran of either the 172 IN or 17 IN.
A reference from the Indiana Archives gives service as Co B 108 IN

Unfortunately, there was no 172 IN; and the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System only lists 4 soldiers for the 108 IN, and he is not included in the roster of 3300+men of the 17th IN.

Can anyone provide the unit for Samuel C. Doggett? We would like to properly mark his grave with a government marker.
