Hi Richard,

Regretfully, as is too often the case in the Indiana papers, there is a large gap in the "Republican" after Fall 1864. I guess we should be grateful anything has survived at all!

Another possible source might be the Indianapolis papers--they often printed submissions "from all over," so a look through the Daily Journal, the Daily Sentinel, and the Daily Evening Gazette, etc. might be worth a look.

Also another, almost unknown, source might be the "American Tribune," which was the Indiana GAR paper and the local counterpart to the GAR "National Tribune" (also a potentially good source of information, but hard to obtain). The "AT" is also difficult to obtain as the only in-state copies I know about are at the Indianapolis Public Library. The "AT" definitely published from about 1879-1906, but the only copies I've ever seen date from about 1890-1896.

Good luck!

Mark
