Re: 38th Regiment Indiana Volunteers Infantry

Good morning Michael:
Again a big thank you. The latter information you sent ties in with the information in the deposition given by Phillip Endres, Joseph's friend. Joseph was diagnosed with chronic diarrhea caused from marching and sleeping in wet clothes, low rations, crossing the icy waters of the creeks, etc. of the Tennessee River.
JOhn George was Joseph's brother, I requested and received his records hoping they were together, the information is very sketchy, but John George was in hospital in Troy, New York, March and April 1865 and it looks like he was in Washington, D.C. May 1865 or should have been it reads: he was absent without leave, never reported for duty. June 1865 absent at Draft Rendevous. I don't have his records for when he applied for his disability.
Jacob could have been a relative, that part of the Indiana woods was overrun with Schneiders.
Thanks again, I certainly do appreciate your time and your knowledge.
Betty
