Thanks so much for your reply. According to the discharge paper of my gr/grandfather Joseph Schneider he was assigned to the 38th Regiment, etc. The Archives in Washington D.C. were unable to find any records of his military time but were able to find records of him applying for a disability. According to the depositions given by a fellow soldier he was in Nashville, Tn. during the Battle of Nashville. December 1864 and was in the hospital in Bridgeport, Al. latter of December,1864, Jan. and Feb.,1865 and was then sent to hospital in Nashville. Since the information you have have the 38th in Georgia during that time, I guess I can assume for some reason he was sent to another Regimant that was involved during the Battle of Nashville.
I certainly do appreciate you sending the information.
