I am not doubting the story in fact I relooked and I must apologize because I had mis wrote at least the numbers were 4000 in Feb.1862 The 600+ were the following year Feb.1863. The 15 Indianna transfered to the Army of Ohio 15th Brigade,Nov. to December, 1861. 15th Brigade, 4th Division, Army of the Ohio, to March, 1862. 15th Brigade, 6th Division, Army of the Ohio, March, 1862. 21st Brigade, 6th Division, Army of the Ohio, to September, 1862. 21st Brigade, 6th Division, 2nd Corps, Army of the Ohio, to November, 1862, 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, Left Wing 14th Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland, to January, 1863. As you can see in March of 1862 15th reorganized, transfered twice. I was trying to infer he might of been on parole at the time.Did he transfer into the 60 IND. by Chance?60IND.INF.Organized at Evansville and Indianapolis, Ind., February 19 to March 21, 1862. Duty at Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Ind., guarding prisoners February 22 to June 20, 1862.I appreciate the reply.
