Re: Wilson's Cavalry Raid - 17th Indiana

A great photo of Colonel Frank White can be found on the website, www.civilwarindiana.com. Open up the website and click on "photographic archives (searchable)", then click on the "17th Indiana Regiment". It will open all of the photos available on members of the 17th Indiana Regiment (including Frank White). You can also click on this same website under "Indiana Regimental Histories" for more detailed information.

Another good website is www.indianainthecivilwar.com. On this website, click on "Indiana Regiments" and "Hoosiers of Note" to learn about the 15th and 17th Indiana Regiments.

Frank White is my wife's great-great grandfather. He was a Major with the 15th Indiana Regiment, and later at the close of the war with the 17th Indiana Regiment (as a Lieutenant Colonel). He was discharged after the war with the brevited rank of Brigadier General, and returned to his home near Terre Haute, Indiana. He was in poor condition after the war, with many injuries and hardships of campaign life on the battlefield.
