The Indiana in the Civil War Message Board

Saxon's Cornet Band

Hi Everyone!

You should really visit the Frazier Historical Arms Museum in Louisville, KY. www.fraziermuseum.org. It is so fascinating...and it's much bigger than I ever expected. They even have a Civil War section on the second floor. The whole museum covers 1,000 years of history starting with the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and going to Teddy Roosevelt in 1910. The entire 3rd floor is owned by the British Royal Armouries...so everything up there is from England.

For part of their living history series they are inviting the Saxon's Cornet Band to play on October 26, 2005. I pulled this off their website, b/c I thought some of you might want to attend. Looks pretty interesting.

SAXTON’S CORNET BAND
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2005 ~ 7:30 PM
$12 general admission and $5 for students
Tickets: (502) 753-5663

Listening to Saxton’s Cornet Band is as close as one can come today to hearing the brass band music enjoyed by soldiers and citizens during the 1800s. The band re-creates the sound and appearance of brass bands popular in the era of the American Civil War using instruments and uniforms authentic to the Civil War era.
This lively performance will be perfect for the entire family!
