Re: 15th Indiana Volunteer Infantry

Thanks for the information!

My wife's great-great grandfather was Major Frank White who was a Regimental commander for the 15th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Cpl Elijah Crane, mentioned in your article, probably fought alongside Major Frank White at Corinth, Shiloh, Perrysville, Stone's River, and Mission Ridge.

Major Frank White was wounded in the final assault to capture Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The 15th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment was in General Wagner's Brigade, under General Sheridan during the Battle of Missionary Ridge.

We recently visited the battlesite at Missionary Ridge, but could not find the Regimental marker for the 15th Indiana Volunteer Infantry (supposed to be at a private residence on 121 S. Crest Road). The National Park Rangers are checking on its whereabouts, and will keep us posted.
