Re: Lt. Col. Henry Davis on The Battle of Chickama

I have a friend who is in his 80's that ask me to value a couple of guns for him as i am an engraver and work on a lot of nice guns. The one gun is a french made pin fire revolver and on the backstrap in what appears to me to be very old engraved script is"Henry Davis 82 Ind" I told him this was very interesting and meant the gun may have been carried in the civil war. He had never noticed the engraving on the backstrap as it is lite but very legible. So that led me to do a search for Henry Davis 82nd Indiana and that is how I got here. Please feel free to contact me about this gun as I would love to see it make its way back to the family. Thank you in advance for any information you might be able to provide.
