I am trying to find the original source of the attached photograph of Col. Silas Colgrove of the 27th Indiana Regiment taken ca. 1863. It's a terrific photo and captures his wartime intensity much better than the later official portrait taken as a retired Brevet Brigadier General. I want to use it in a family history I've been working on that I'm hoping to publish by the end of the year and need to figure out its copyright status.

It occurred to me that your message board might be a good place to fish for an answer, but I would need to be able to post the photo. Any thoughts on that, or, come to think of it, do you recognize the portrait?
