I would appreciate any info on a private,later sergeant, Joseph Land companies E & B 1st Indiana Cavalry. I've been trying for several years to locate a Confederate Joseph Land Co.F 45th N.C. Inf. whose brief record indicate he " deserted at Petersburg Virginia about August 1862. " Is there any indication that the Joseph Land in the 1st Indiana may ( or could ) have been a former Confederate that " galvanized " Family oral history in North Carolina says this Joseph died in the war. Any help would be greatly appreciated
