My GGUncle was Lt.Charles T.Elliott 7IL.Inf. Co.A who was bent over reloading April 6 when a Confederate ball entered his face just below his eye.It went through the roof of his mouth lodging in his neck. Pvt. Walter Mallet of the same CO.cut the ball out with his pocket knife saving his life by opening his airway. The amazing thing is Charles returned to his regiment after a relatively short furlough.
