I'm curious as to what the "KEB" of Indianapolis, IN is?

Companies K & D of the 29th were sent to Jackson, MS to help guard that area. They were later detached to the Navy & served on 3 gunboats, Tyler, Petrel, and I can't recall the other one (and too lazy to look!!!) after the remainder of the 29th was captured. Some therefore, have their names inscribed on the IL monument at Vicksburg (under the 29th); and also on the Navy monument.

Also, the 29th didn't surrender at Holly Springs. Col. Murphy "surrendered" them without a fight. Grant had him courtmartialed and removed from duty.

Several of these men are buried near where I live. I have photos of many of them.
