The Christian County Historical Society is holding a commemorative
ceremony for the 150th anniversary of the battle at Dug Springs, along
the Old Wire Road near present day Clever, Missouri. The event will start
at 2:00 P.M., Sunday August 7th at the Clever Middle School parking lot
401 West Inman Street, Clever. Re-enactors & artillery firing of cannon
are planned as well as historians talking about the battle, being one of
the earliest engagements of the Civil War and precursor to the Battle of
Wilson's Creek.
