In 1864 the 37th Illinois went home for some R&R. While there they gave their tattered flag that they received in 1861 to Colonel John Hancock. When they returned they were presented with new national and regimental flags which I assume to be the ones on the cover of "The Fremont Rifles." What happened to the tattered flag given to Hancock?
