The Illinois in the Civil War Message Board

Interpreters Needed

The Gaylord Building, a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, seeks volunteer living history interpreters for the late Antebellum Era (1858-1860). As this is immeditely before the Civil War, experienced Civil War "civilian" reenactors are hightly desired. The historic site has a corps of volunteers who interpret the social/cultural history of the period through the recreation of leisure activities. The prime vehicle is the national pastime with the Sleepers Base Ball Club. Interpreters are needed to portray spectators, reporters, photographers, constables and to provide other sources of educational enjoyment for the public. The Gaylord Building is located in Lockport, Will County, Illinois, but the Sleepers attend public events throughout northeastern Illinois, northwestern Indiana and southeastern Wisconsin. Please contact the Sleepers Base Ball Club at sleepers@gaylordbuilding.org or 1.815.838.9400 (The Gaylord Building) for more details. Thank you.
