In Response To: Capt. John Rourke ()

This may help a bit. If you look up Corporal Theopolis Richardson and Captain Wllie Robb you will see a bit more of the capture story as reported by these two eye witneses. O'Rourke himself reported that he had been thrown from his horse and his shoulder broken while retreating near the cumberland gap when he was captured. In researching the Captain during the past five years I have found a very religious family man dedicated to public service. In 2007 he was named a person of historic significance by the federal government. As a side note Rourke(O'Rourke was one of the 600 Union officers used as a human shield by the confederates at Charleston. I would be willing to share more info if anyone is interested and would love to hear more about the bogus vouture mentioned at sorgum. Thanks
