No, amd I've been looking for it for months. This guy was once the wealthiest man in the county, one of the 1st families of Welch WV - he even founded a newspaper, the McDowell Record - but I can't find his obituary, not even his death record on the WV site. Not EVEN any traceable Union records, even tho he is said to have been a Union soldier. Maybe he really was the creep his 1st family described him to be.

Again, he settled in WV just across the border from his 1st family in Wasaington and Tzaewell counties VA. So, I suspect there was a split of familiy loyalties after the war.
