Jim,
I found one who died in the battle and that would be Thomas Layton and then I found one who died in the hospital at Ironton,Mo. about ten days later of "Fever". Could that have been infection from a wound recived in battle. I don't know. There was another Illinois Infantry regiment involved as well as some Illinois Calvary if memory serves me. And a Wisconsin unit. Is that correct?
