I am trying to acquire any information on James Egleston, an Australian born Civil War veteran. Anything on his life in Illinois or elsewhere, his family, descendants and especially where he is buried. All I have is James Egleston was born in Sydney, Australia. His residence was in Peoria, Illinois and he enlisted as a Private on 10/5/1862; being mustered into "M" Co. Illinois 14th Cavalry on 1/7/1863. He deserted on 4/13/1863.
