I have a little for you on those two men. Roscoe was a private in Company A of the 45th Infantry regiment. He was from Pleasant Valley, Jo Daviess County Illinois. He was 21 when he enlisted. His height was 5'93/4", he had light hair, blue eyes and was light complected. He was single and was a farmer. He was origionally from Wheeler, NY. He joined on Aug. 30, 1861 at Mt. Carroll, IL for 3 years. He mustered in on Nov. 20,1861 at Galena, IL. He was released by special muster on Aug. 18, 1862. Thomas Patterson was a private in Company B of the 45th Illinois. He lived in Rush, JoDaviess County, IL. He was 25 when he enlisted. He was 5'8" tall, had light hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. He was single and was a farmer. He was origionally from Wheeler, Steuben County NY. He joined on Aug. 30,1861 at Galena, IL for 3 years. He mustered in on Nov.20,1861 at Galena. He died at Mound City, IL. in 1862. Some are small and some are very large. My ancestors records ran 199 pages, but I must tell you that is unusual. Most run 30 to 70 pages but you can not tell until you dig into them.
