As I seem to remember, the first commander was Col.
Stephen G. Hicks on Aug.6,'61 till Aug.12,'61 by the
fact he was CO of the first Reg. brought in (he being
ranking officer present). Then
Col. Thomas G. Pitcher was appointed CO & mustering
officer of Camp Butler. Another one later on was Col. Pitcairn
Morrison.
