The Illinois in the Civil War Message Board

Re: 101st Illinois Infantry

Am looking for additional information on John W. Evans of Indian Creek, Cass co., Illinois that was 101st Infantry, company A in Civil War. He supposedly died in Jeffersonville, Indiana of wounds sustained in the war. It was either June or July 27, 1864 I believe. I found conflicting information.

1) What is the best source/most accurate for information to find out where he is buried?

2) Also what records would identify his wife and family since John Evans is a common name?

3) Does anyone have any pictures of the 101st with the soldier last name of Evans?

Thanks!
