Henson, William of Illinois, Williamson County, Ill. c.1846 born in Tennessee; farmer; Jan. 30, 1864 enlisted at Marion, Ill. as pvt., Co. C, 31st Ill. Infantry Rgt. July 22, 1864 missing at Atlanta, Ga. prisoner of war at Andersonville, Ga. Nov. 11, 1864 moved to Millen, Ga. July 11, 1865 mustered out at Springfield, Ill. even though regiment had no record of him since July 1864. Height: five feet, eight inches, black hair and eyes

William Henson, Co. c, 31st Ill. Infantry Rgt. applied for a pension on April 6, 1876 (application #216784/certificate #172035 and his widow Elizabeth applied for a pension on July 2, 1926 (application #1547992/certificate # A 8-30-26)

Co. C, 31st Ill. Infantry Rgt. also included George W. Henson of Morgan County, Tenn., and James L. and Oliver Henson of Knox County, Tenn. George, James and Oliver enlisted at Williamson County, Ill.
George died Aug. 22, 1864 while a prisoner of war at Andersonville and is buried there. James and Oliver survived the war
