Mr. Martin,
What I am looking for is not going to be the battle at Hill's Plantation. This is a totally different engagement that happened on the White River at Peach Orchard Bluff. It happened the exact same day that the Hill's Plantation battle took place and the 13th Illinois was attached to the Army of the Southwest. On July 7th, 1862 the 13th was running recon down to Peach Orchard Bluff from Augusta. They set up camp at Peach Orchard Bluff. Here there was a pretty sharp skirmish that ended up with 12 killed and 30 wounded. The Confederate loss was 17 killed and 83 wounded.
This battle doesn't show anywhere in the OR's and I am unable to find out anything else about it. I was hoping that someone had some accounts of it.
Thanks!
Ronnie Ladd
