Re: Grierson's Raid Casualties........

You're welcome.

Buffington (according to a Book titled "The Butternut Guerillas" by Larry Underwood, ISBN #0-9637515-8-1)was buried where he fell. The source used isn't specific though.

Also in this book is listed as wounded at Wall's Bridge was the bugler of the 7th Cav., Wm. Roy (who would surely die from wounds). He was mustered out as a farrier in 64 though.

You should be able to get a copy of this book through your local library. Some of the sources he used were books and letters from some of the men in the 7th Cav who were actually in the Raid. Almost all of these sources were from men in mid to northern IL though, so those who served in the 6th Cav from extreme southern IL aren't included much.

Green B. Floyd isn't listed in the Butternut book, but he died from wounds on June 3, 1863. I found something here once relating to the actual place he was wounded (several days prior to his death). I'll have to find that again and get back with you. He was in the 6th Cav and was from Pope Co., IL.

How many graves do you think are there?
Ann
