I am researching the movements and actions of the 8th Iowa Cavalry, 1st Brigade, 1st Division, Cavalry Corps, Military Department of the Mississippi. Part of Croxton's Brigade which destroyed the University of Alabama and fought Wirt Adams after it had been detached from Wilson's Corps. Looking for diaries, letters, memoirs, etc., which might mention actions of April 1-6, 1865, particularly. This regiment lost 26 captured on April 6, 1865, not mentioned in Croxton's OR report.
