Thanks Dennis. I believe a Libby prison door still in Richmond at the Tredegar Museum. Libby Prison interests me. I had a yankee uncle's son at Libby in 1864. Major Nathan Goff from Clarksburg West Va. It is a fascinating story and in the ORs. Major Goff was to be shot if a Confederate Major Armesy, captured recruiting in West Virginia was shot by the Federals. Goff's father and politically connected friends and family wrote letters and his mother Harriet went to see the president. Lincoln, apparently wanting to please his new state of West Virginia arranged a special exchange for Goff and Armesy. Major Goff had a personal meeting with Stanton and Lincoln when released.

Perhaps just as interesting Major Goff's family were slave owners.
