His record is confusing. I’ve copied the basic information on each of the cards in his two files

There are two different files, with cards under 2nd (Duke’s) Kentucky Cavalry and Morgan’s Men, Kentucky
It appears he was discharged, then why was he captured? We do know however, that the Yankees frequently termed those they detained as deserters.
Note, his regiment was stationed near McMinnville, Tenn. when he was taken prisoner January 27, 1863.
