Re: Libby Prison inmate list, John Notestien
In Response To: Libby Prison inmate list ()

I am looking for John A Notestine, who by his half brother, Daniel Notestine's, biography in Juniata Co, PA, 1897 Claims, "John A (Notestine), enlisted in Illinois in the Union Army, and served throughout the War of the Rebellion. He was twice captured and confined in Libby Prison, whence. with some others, he made his excape". John A. Notestine enlisted Dec 2, 1861 in Peoria County, Illinois, assigned to Company "C", 57th Illinois Infantry. Discharged January 27, 1865 at Springfield, Illinois.
I am unable to verify that my, John A Notestien was ever in Libby Prison. Then I would have to wonder how his half brother knew about his incarceration there?
Any Help is greatly appreciated!
