Thanks Bruce. I thought the author was saying these were Southern bounty jumpers that had been arrested and thrown in with Union POWs. So you're saying these were Union bounty jumpers that were prevented from 'jumping' again, ended up on the battlefield, and then were captured and sent to Andersonville. That makes more sense.
