newspaper account of prisoner escape
From the Nashville Dispatch dated April 25, 1862. "ITEMS OF SOUTHERN NEWS" "Lieut. Wilson, of Graves Battery, captured at Fort Donelson, reached Corinth on the 29th ult., having escaped from Camp Chase, Columbus, Ohio. In a published statement, he says the Rebel prisoners at Camp Chase are clothed well, but fed badly. He represents a unanimity of feeling in the North with reference to the Rebellion, but met with many sympathizers in Southern Indiana, some of whom afforded him facilities for reaching Kentucky. He made his exit from prison by a novel mode, not named, but through which more are expected to escape. "
