Thank you for your reply. It answered all of my questions about City Point. I have information that states two of my great, great grandfathers were sent there when captured by Union Forces during the Civil War. Interestingly, they were both also sent to Point Lookout, MD, although not at the same time (They did not fight together; one was from VA and one was from Florida) I was looking to find any information that would help me to understand some of the things they experienced during that terrible war.
I now know that City Point was merely a transfer station for them. Again, thank you for this information!
