Brotherlin & Halms at Camp Chase

Prior to August 1, 1863 the Confederate dead for the majority were buried at the Southeast City Cemetery only to be reinterred back to the Camp Chase Cemetery in May of 1869 in row 41. Recently Brent Nimmo has been able to determine who buried the Confederates and Union troops at the Southeast City Cemetery. Brotherlin & Halms owned a furiture store in Columbus, Ohio and expanded their business when the War broke out. They made caskets and even went the extra measure to become government undertakers. From April 6, 1862 until August 2, 1863 Brotherlin & Halms would bury the War dead at the Southeast City Cemetery. And as such they would have put up the first wooden headboards over the graves.
