The Confederate Dead at Chase due to Shiloh

In Hebrew, Shiloh means place of peace. 33 Confederate soldiers now have their Shiloh at the Camp Chase Cemetery. 31 were reinterred from Camp Dennison in May of 1869. The other two Jacob Mooney of the 18th Louisiana and L. Gueott of the 18th Alabama now occupy a double burial site in grave # 1879 and they died of their wounds due to the battle of Shiloh at the Camp Chase Hosptial on May 22, 1862. Both were buried at the Southeast Cemetery and reinterred to the Camp Chase Cemetery in May of 1869. The following is the State breakdown of the Confederate dead at the Camp Chase Cemetery due to the battle of Shiloh. Information based on Compiled Military Service Records about 90% accurate. Also there are eight (8) other Confederates who died of wounds from Shiloh at Camp Dennison whose bodies were not brought to Camp Chase with the other 31 for unknown reasons. They are buried at the Spring Grove Cemetery, near Cincinnati, Ohio and are not included in this breakdown.

Alabama=11
Louisiana=10
Texas=4
Mississippi=4
Arkansas=2
Tennessee=2

The following is the regimental breakdown by State and the soldiers last names and Company and grave number at the Camp Chase Cemetery:

Alabama: 11
17th Alabama Infantry=7 (McNair-Co.D #2125) (Moseley Co.F #2129) (Martin-Co.F #2143) (Roquemore-Co.G #2144) (Sprading-Co.E #2145) (Robertson-Co.F #2132) (Tippett-Co.K #2138)
21st Alabama Infantry=2 (Tilghman-Co.I #2130) (Cople-Co.E #2148)
18th Alabama Infantry=1 (Gueott-Co. Unknown #1879)
22nd Alabama Infantry=1 (Baldwin-Co.D #2122)

15th Mississippi Infantry=1 (Mimms-Co.D #2149)
I realize that the 2nd MS was not at the battle of Shiloh but rather in Virginia at the time. It is possible that Private Turner may have had furlough and ended up at Shiloh as he lived near Iuka,MS. Again the CMSR's are only about 90% accurate.

Arkansas: 2
1st Arkansas Infantry=1 (Henry-Co.F #2126)
8th Arkansas Infantry=1 (Hubbard-Co.D #2136)

Tennessee: 2
55th Tennessee Infantry (McKoin's) =1 (McLelland-Co.C #2151
35th Tennessee Infantry also known as the 5th Tennessee Provisional Army and Mountain Rifle Regiment=1 (Jaco Sr. Co.A #2152)
