Calvin J. Watts, age 20, Private, Capt. B. W. Pearce's Company, 9th Regiment Louisiana Volunteers,* enlisted July 7, 1861 at Camp Moore by Lt. J. Devereau for 12 months, admitted Jackson Hospital, Richmond, Va. November 15, 1863, Pneumonia, receipted for an issue of clothing during the 1st quarter 1864, captured at Monocacy, Md. July 10, 1864, admitted same day to USA General Hospital, Frederick, Md., admitted to West's Building Hospital, Baltimore, Md., July 25, gunshot wound, musket, back of neck, forwarded to and received at Fort McHenry, Md. August 30, released to Point Lookout, Md. prison camp October 25, paroled and transfered for exchange October 30, 1864, received at Venus Point, Savannah, Georgia November 15, he is recorded on an undated record as "In Trans. Miss. Dept. without leave 1864," believe this refers to his post exchange period as it covers the company from July 7, 1861 to March 15, 1865, which would also seem to indicate he never returned to the regiment

Note: There are no Company C muster rolls on record post November 2, 1864, which means we cannot ascertain his activities following his exchange.

* This company subsequently became Company C (Bienville Blues), 9th Regiment Louisiana Infantry
