Thanks for your post! There were no official records of my gggrandfather at Andersonville. However, his pension file states he died there. When I sent NARA a question about this, they researched his regiment. They found a deposition taken of a sergeant in my ancestors company. He attests to seeing my ancestor there and in a "dying condition...." It was good enough to get a pension for my gggrandmother and her seven children.
